BEAM in Ethical Action
Our Code of Ethics is not a static document—it’s a lived framework that mirrors our BEAM values and supports staff in applying ethical principles in day-to-day decision-making.
| BEAM Value | Ethical Application |
|---|---|
| Be Creative | Use sound, evidence-based practices, but embrace progressive, person-centered solutions tailored to each individual’s unique strengths and authentic self. |
| Exceed Expectations | Uphold the highest ethical and clinical standards, meeting or exceeding all expectations set in care plans, contracts, and service agreements. |
| Act Collaboratively | Prioritize mutual respect, shared decision-making, and ethical transparency across all interactions—with families, team members, and stakeholders. |
| Make an Impact | Take personal responsibility for ethical excellence, knowing our individual actions contribute to client progress, staff culture, and organizational integrity. |
Core Ethical Commitment
1. Integrity, Compliance, and Anti-Corruption
CI ensures strict compliance with payer rules, treatment integrity standards, and accurate documentation. Fraud, dishonesty, and misrepresentation are not tolerated.
2. Conflicts of Interest
Staff must avoid situations where personal interests might compromise professional judgment. Conflicts must be disclosed, managed transparently, and never allowed to impact service delivery.
3. Confidentiality
Client, staff, and vendor information must be kept confidential and handled according to HIPAA and internal CI policies. Breaches are taken seriously and subject to disciplinary review.
4. Employment Practices
CI is an equal opportunity employer committed to fairness, respect, and due process. Decisions are made without discrimination and with attention to staff well-being, growth, and support.
5. Health, Safety, and Environment
We prioritize safety in every environment where services occur—clinic, home, school, or community. Policies align with OSHA and CDC recommendations. While not a resource-heavy organization, we encourage environmentally conscious practices where applicable.
6. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
CI affirms the inherent worth of every person. We strive to dismantle bias, support representation, and uphold inclusive practices in service delivery, hiring, and professional development.
7. Ethics and Compliance Resources
Staff have access to supervision, mentorship, and leadership to support ethical decision-making. A shared Ethics Resource Library is maintained in our Google Drive.
8. Digital and Social Media
Staff are expected to maintain professionalism in all online activity. Clinical and organizational matters must never be shared on social media. Use of CI’s name, images, or branding requires prior approval.
9. Vendor and Third-Party Relationships
CI holds outside partners to the same ethical and quality standards we hold ourselves to. Contracts are reviewed regularly, and vendor conduct must align with CI’s values and expectations.
Maintaining an Ethical Culture
Ethics is a shared responsibility. At CI, we build and sustain an ethical culture through:
- BEAM Reflections: We restate core values in team meetings and celebrate examples of ethical practice.
- Supervision and Peer Feedback: Ethics topics are integrated into one-to-one meetings, and case review occurs during quarterly Clinical Review Team (CRT) meetings and monthly CRT Cohort groups.
- Ethics Micro-Learning: “Ethics in Practice” topics are shared across the organization via meetings, email and daily work.
- Leadership Involvement: Directors and senior clinicians act as Ethics Liaisons to stay informed and mentor others.
- Archived Learning: Supervisors maintain running logs of ethical scenarios and discussions for reflection and staff learning.
- Annual Ethics Training: All staff participate in ethics training at least annually.
Reporting and Accountability
CI expects employees to speak up when ethical concerns arise. Concerns may be reported to:
- Direct supervisors
- Clinical or administrative directors
- CI Executive Leadership
We are committed to a non-retaliation policy and to addressing concerns respectfully, confidentially, and promptly. Where appropriate, action may include coaching, documentation, corrective plans, or referral to external licensing or oversight bodies.
Conclusion
At Creative Interventions, ethics is not a checklist—it is how we shine. Through BEAM, we uphold our commitment to children, families, staff, and each other. Every decision, every interaction, and every service reflects our shared commitment to creative, collaborative, and values-driven work.
